Manufacturing Cloud Overview

This article covers the basics of Manufacturing Cloud, which is one of the 12 Salesforce Industry Clouds currently available.

You’ll learn what Manufacturing Cloud is, how it differs from Sales and Service Cloud, what the pricing is, and how to negotiate for better pricing.

The Salesforce Industries offerings were expanded and enhanced after the February 2020 acquisition of Vlocity for $1.3B

The core concept behind them is to provide out-of-the box functionality specific to individual industries. Otherwise you’d have to build that functionality from scratch in Sales or Service Cloud or buy add-ons and apps.

This approach could save your organization valuable time and money and ensure you’re leveraging the latest industry best practices.

However, you might end up with some bells and whistles that you don’t end up using or have to customize anyway.

Read on to get the core information you need to make an informed decision as to whether Manufacturing Cloud is a good fit for your needs, or whether you want to stick Sales and/or Service Cloud.

What does Manufacturing Cloud do?

Salesforce Manufacturing Cloud is a manufacturing operations management (MOM) solution built on the Salesforce platform.

It is intended to help manufacturers digitize their operations and improve their visibility and control over the production process.

It includes features such as production planning and scheduling, quality control, and supply chain management. It helps manufacturers to run their factory operations in an effective and efficient way.

How is it different from Sales Cloud or Service Cloud?

Salesforce Sales Cloud is a customer relationship management (CRM) platform that helps organizations manage their sales processes.

It includes features such as contact and lead management, account and opportunity management, and forecasting and reporting. It allows sales teams to organize and track customer interactions and sales data in a central location.

Service Cloud is designed to help businesses manage interactions with their customers through various channels such as email, phone, and social media.

It includes a variety of features such as a customer service console, a knowledge base, and a community portal. These tools are designed to help companies provide quick, efficient customer service and improve customer satisfaction.

Additionally, it helps companies organize and streamline their customer service operations and provides them with valuable insights through analytics and reporting.

Do I have to purchase Sales and Service Cloud in addition to Marketing Cloud?

Nope! When you purchase Marketing Cloud, you choose whether you want to also get the functionality of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or both rolled in.

What does Marketing Cloud include that doesn’t come with Sales or Service Cloud?

Marketing Cloud comes prebuilt with things that would be expensive and time-consuming to custom build in Sales or Service Cloud.

For example, you get the Manufacturing Data Model. This makes adoption and data integration seamless with a manufacturing data model, complete with prebuilt objects, processes, and frameworks for manufacturing.

If you choose the Sales version of Marketing Cloud, you also get Enterprise Account Forecasting and Sales Agreements. This helps capture an accurate picture of net new opportunities alongside customer agreements, demand forecasts, and long-term projects.

If you choose the Service version of Marketing Cloud, you also get Service Forecasting Framework and Digital Process Automation. This helps capture a holistic view of predicted volumes and demand with a robust forecasting framework, and accelerate service automation with no-code tools.

What is the pricing?

Manufacturing Cloud for Sales or Service list price is $225/user/month. For just $25/user/month more, you can get both.

Insider tip for better pricing:

You can get better pricing by including some add-ons. We recommend considering two in particular.

First, Embedded Analytics. Make fast, informed decisions with time-series-based projections and predictive insights, plus out-of-the-box dashboards for manufacturing.

Second, Rebate Management. Drive partner loyalty and sales with powerful incentive programs, and collaborate effortlessly with suppliers, dealers, and channel partners.

You can also browse the current pricing for all add-ons here.
